Anthony was
born and raised in the Bay area of Northern California. In High School Anthony excelled in sports and
was not only on the Water Polo Team, but also on the Swimming and Diving Teams
at Dublin High School. Anthony signed up for the Marine Corp at the age of 17.
He left for boot camp with a group of his high school buddies a few weeks after
their graduation. After completing boot camp at Camp Pendleton, Anthony did his
further training at Fort Bliss Texas for Hawk Missiles, where he was the
distinguished honor graduate. Later he was stationed in Livermore California as
a Marine recruiter, at that time he was a Corporal.
In May of 1978 while on a day off Anthony and his fiancé Joanne went to the beach, where Anthony suffered a diving accident severing his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Anthony did his 7 month rehab in the Palo Alto VA, adjusting as a 19 year old young man, now facing life as a quadriplegic.
Anthony married Joanne in 1986. He has always had the attitude that nothing would stop him, feeling lucky just to be alive. He has parasailed off the west coast of Florida with a Disabled Veterans group and also water skied as well, with the wonderful help of volunteers from Sea World. Anthony and Joanne have traveled the world from the tip of Gibraltar to the Fjords of Norway, as far west to the islands of Hawaii, traversing the winding roads to the top of the Pyrenees in Andorra, and making their way down to the beautiful wine country side of Tuscany. A lover of wine Anthony plans most of his trips to go to different growing regions always adding to his ever growing personal wine cellar, one of his passions.
Anthony and Joanne moved to central Florida in 1992, with the temperate weather so much nicer for Anthony’s condition, then the cold damp winter weather of the San Francisco Bay area. In 2006 Joanne bought Anthony an 8 week old Goldendoodle puppy and had her trained to assist Anthony when she might not be around to pick up items that he might have dropped or open and close doors for him. This little Red Dog Called Razzbie would change their life’s forever, giving both Anthony and Joanne a little piece of mind with something so simple as a helping Paw. That is when their nonprofit Barn Yard Ventures was formed. The Matinrazm teamed up with Razzbie’s trainer Jocelyn McGuiness and established their nonprofit out in Clermont Florida, where they breed and service train one Goldendoodle pup out of each of their litters and then donate them to disabled service men and women in need of a little assistance in the Orlando area. The Matinrazm’s feel like they are very blessed and there is nothing better then paying it forward.
